A Seeker’s Guide
“As a little flower is closed and limp from the cold night,
and when the sun shines down on it,
it rises to open on its stem,
my wilted strength began to bloom in me,
and warm courage flowed into my heart
like a man set free.”
Light supreme, so far beyond the reach of understanding,
help me to say who you are to future generations,
so that you will ease their fears as you now ease mine.
In your Eternal Light, I saw how you contain
all things bound in a single book by love,
in which this world is just one page.
“I speak as one must speak to a mind like yours
limited by the five senses.
For this same reason, the Scriptures condescend
“to make up pictures of the invisible,
giving hands and feet to God
and angels with human faces.”
“I can see how into your mind
there already shines Eternal Light,
which, once it is seen, forever kindles love.
“And should some other thing seduce your love,
it can only be some trace of this Light,
misapprehended,
shining through that thing.”
"You can reach the truth beyond which
there is no other truth." Dante
The Seeker’s third illumination has shown that the things we can see in this world, such as the flowers, are animated by something we cannot normally see – the river of light, the life force, the energy of creation itself.
In the illuminative moment, the non-visible becomes visible.
